Machine is a machine designed to convert energy into useful mechanical motion. In common usage, the engine burns fuel or consume, and are distinguished from electrical machinery (eg, electric motors) derived power without changing the composition of the material. A machine can also serve as a driver of “major”, the components that change the flow or pressure changes of fluid into mechanical energy. A car powered by an internal combustion engine can use the various motors and pumps, but ultimately all the devices as their power comes from the engine. Motor “term” was originally used to differentiate new vehicle-powered internal combustion engine from the previous vehicle powered by steam engines, like a steam roller and motor roller, but can be used to refer to any machine.
Initially the machine is a mechanical device that forces transformed into motion. Military devices such as catapults, trebuchets and rams beating referred to as siege engines. Gin “term” as in cotton gin is recognized as a short form of the Old French word Engin, in turn, from Latin ingenium, related to smart. Most of the devices used in the so-called industrial revolution machine, and this is where the steam engine gained its name.
In modern usage, the term is used to describe devices capable of doing mechanical work, as in the original steam engine. In most cases the work produced by mobilizing the power of torque or linear, which used to operate other machinery that can generate electricity, pump water, or gas pressure. In the context of propulsion systems, air-breathing engine is one that uses atmospheric air to oxidize the fuel by supplying an oxidizer than independently, as in a rocket.
